Indofil Industries sows seeds for Girls Education by launching Project Khushi as part of its CSR Initiative

02-Nov-22

Sangamner, Wednesday, November 02, 2022: Indofil Industries, one of India’s leading crop nutrition and protection companies, today sowed the seeds of its continual commitment towards the education and social upliftment of girls with rural, underprivileged backgrounds through Project Khushi. As part of Indofil Industries' CSR initiative, Project Khushi aims to reach out to hundreds of rural girls each year to sponsor their education and vocational ambitions throughfinancial grants. Inaugurating this initiative was Padma Shri Smt. Rahibai Soma Popare, popularly known as ‘Beej Mata’ or ‘Seed Mother’, was present at Sangamner to launch Project Khushi along with top Indofil officials. Smt. Popare, who hails from Kombhalne village near Akole in Maharashtra, is a well-known conservationist, a renowned proponent of traditional farming. She was bestowed the Padma Shri in 2020 for her exceptional work with farmers and restoring indigenous seeds.

Project Khushi has been the brainchild of Dr. Bina Modi, Chairperson and Managing Director of Indofil Industries, who has been personally involved from its conception and drawing out its long-term objectives. Project Khushi aims to reach out to hundreds of rural girls pan-India, each year and sponsor their education or vocational ambitions so that they receive equal opportunities to join mainstream India. The date November 2nd finds deep meaning with the Group as it marks the passing-on anniversary of Late Shri. KK Modi, a doyen of Indian business and the erstwhile President of Modi Enterprises. Project Khushi is an ode to his everlasting memory.

Speaking on the occasion, Vasu R. Ariya, Chief Mentor, Indofil Industries, added, “Indofil has been committed towards education and knowledge for several years. When it comes to girls in this country, there have been several public and private campaigns. However, there’s still a lot more to be done. This year, as a CSR initiative at Indofil, it was decided that we should focus our energies towards identifying girls with challenging backgrounds and help them soar. Many still face discriminating situations based on their financial or social status and gender. Education remains one of Indofil’s strongest pillars and through Project Khushi, we aim to brighten and touch the lives of several young girls. Currently, we are concentrating our efforts to include deserving girls from select regions of India. Over the next few years, we aim to spread more “Khushi through pan-India partnerships and identify more deserving girls to give them wings so that they can fly high to live their dreams and stay khush forever.”

In 2022, Project Khushi aims to reach out to several deserving girls in the regions of Maharashtra, parts of West Bengal and North East, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, Jammu and Kashmir, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh. Partnerships with NGOs and leading Foundations have been initiated and formed. Public at large can also nominate a girl-child in need of financial assistance by filling a form or visiting the Indofil Website. Deserving and short-listed girls will be aided and supported through a local partner in their district or town. Currently, there have been partnerships initiated with NGOs such as GIVE INDIA and The Telegraph Foundation.
